I love all things Mid-Century Modern (MCM), starting with Mad Men (my all-time favorite TV show), all the way to the kitsch found in home decor. I subscribe to Atomic Ranch Magazine and often drool over the beautiful MCM buildings, furnishings, and other MCM stuff that I read about. This year I was lucky enough to be in Palm Springs during the Modernism Week Preview last October. It was fabulous! I had my fill of MCM homes, which I was able to see first-hand and not just through photos in a magazine.
So I got this idea for a quilt that would represent my love for all things modern: I’m thinking I will scan some of the photos that I took, as well as some representative logos and artwork I collected via brochures and other publications, and I will print them on fabric, then I’ll use those printouts to incorporate into a quilt, using the Modern Quilting improvisational technique that I’m so fond of.
So, stay tuned, as I will be posting progress updates as this project gets underway.
