My Foodie Pen Pal

I apologize, I apologize, I apologize!

I should have written this blog four days ago, but my attention was consumed with caring for my terminally ill kitty, who sadly passed away yesterday. My heart is constricted as I write this and try to get on with life. I know the loss of a pet may not seem very critical or important to some, particularly those who don’t have pets, or who consider animals in general an inferior species unworthy of emotional attachments. But my Opus was very much part of our family, he was my “baby.” We had a special connection, and his loss is being felt very deeply. Please forgive me. This should be about the food.

So I’ll write about the food. I received a very nice box from my foodie pal last month. She hit the nail right on the head, by sending some of my favorite foods, such as coffee and honey. In fact, I had put both items on my shopping list just that morning. Happily, they’re off the list thanks to my pal Corrina.

Here is an illustration of the box contents.

Thanks for the goodies!

  1. I'm so sorry for your loss. Our animal family members make us better humans in my opinion.

  2. Sending you hugs of sympathy. . . I understand exactly how you feel. The loss of a pet is just as heartbreaking as the loss of any family member.

Our pets leave pawprints on our hearts that never go away.

I hope time eases some of your pain.

  3. I love your image of "pawprints on the heart." It's a very beautiful thought. Thanks for your support.

  4. You're right about animals making us more human. I love a quote by a Brazilian singer (Roberto Carlos) that goes, "I'd like to be civilized like animals are." Thanks for your kind thoughts.

  5. So sorry to hear about your cat. I remember your pets fondly as Noah used to be your pet sitter.

  6. You're right! I'd totally forgotten about that. Opus' passing leaves a VERY BIG hole in my heart. I just got his ashes to bring home today. I feel him closer now. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
